On A Different Note-1

I decided that I would start a post for the new (or new to me at least) music I have been listening to recently. I’m gonna try to update it weekly.

Beach House is coming out with their third album near the end of this month. The album has leaked, though. Walk in the Park, Silver Soul, Zebra, and Take Care are some of my favorite songs from Teen Dream. Victoria Legrand’s voice is awesome and unique. I saw Beach House open for Grizzly Bear this fall and I feel that they almost overshadowed the main act. It was cool to see Victoria Legrand, in her sparkly bracelets, rocking out on her keyboard, with her crazy voice. They played, Used to Be which is another good song on the new album. I don’t think their new album sounds too much different form their last, but that isn’t necessarily a bad thing.

The High Road by Broken Bells

Broken Bells is a new band formed by Danger Mouse of Gnarls Barkley and James Mercer of The Shins, which I thought was a kind of interesting pairing.

On To The Next One by Jay Z featuring Swizz Beatz

The music video for this song was released after the ball dropped on one of those New Years Eve specials. It’s pretty cool, the joker is in the video. The song also has a sample from the Justice song, D.A.N.C.E. Rapping about The Simpsons is kind of silly, but the part of the song that repeats during the whole song gets stuck in my head.

Helplessly Young by Oh No Ono

Oh No Ono released an album called Eggs in April last year but it’s supposed to be released in the United States this year. You should also check out Swim.

Colouring of Pigeons by The Knife in collabaration with Mt. Sims and Planningtorock

This song is from The Knife, Mt. Sims and Planningtorock’s opera about Charles Darwin. I find it quite an interesting idea. I would like to see this opera and judging by this video, it looks crazy:

Champion by Sister Suvi

This is a song from the band that Merrill Garbus of tUnE-yArDs used to be in.
